Bihar CGL Syllabus 2026

The BSSC CGL prelims syllabus covers three major sections: General Studies (50 questions), General Science & Mathematics (50 questions), and Comprehension / Logical Reasoning / Mental Ability (50 questions). There is no separate mains syllabus for the prelims stage — this single paper determines your qualification for subsequent stages.

BSSC CGL General Studies covers Indian history (ancient, medieval, modern), Indian polity and constitution, geography (with emphasis on Bihar), economics, and current affairs. Questions are often factual but can test conceptual understanding — for example, constitutional articles, river systems of Bihar, or recent government schemes.

The General Science & Mathematics section blends physics, chemistry, biology, and quantitative aptitude. Expect arithmetic (percentage, profit-loss, time-speed-distance), basic algebra, geometry, and applied science questions from everyday life. This section rewards consistent practice more than last-minute cramming.

Comprehension, logical reasoning, and mental ability include reading passages, series, analogies, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, and puzzle-based problems. Accuracy and pattern recognition improve significantly when you solve topic-wise tests regularly.

General Studies syllabus includes Indian National Movement, Indian History (Ancient, Medieval, Modern), Indian Polity & Constitution, Indian Geography (with Bihar focus), Indian Economy, and Current Events of national and international importance including Bihar-specific developments.

General Science & Mathematics covers physics, chemistry, biology at the Class 10–12 level, and mathematics including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and mensuration. Questions test application of concepts, not advanced theory.

Reasoning & Mental Ability includes analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualisation, problem-solving, analysis, judgement, decision-making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetic reasoning, verbal and figure classification, and arithmetical number series.
