Aryabhata, launched in 1975, was India's first satellite. It did not take farmers to the moon, but it showed that a country could build and fly its own machine in space. Later missions studied the Moon and Mars. In class, students compared renewable energy — wind and sunlight that can be used again — with coal and petrol that finish when dug up. One girl said a satellite is like a careful eye in the sky; it should help us understand weather and crops, not only take pretty pictures.
